Reporting live from a cyber cafe in a sketchy alleyway

So whats up people.  This keyboard is like a french keyboard or something so the keys are totally in the wrong place... forgive the typos.  Lets see... So yeah.  I am actually in madagascar.  REAL LIFE.  Geez they said it would be a culture shock, honestly i wasnt prepared for this.  Well i guess ill start with the traveling to here.  The flight to London wasnt too bad.  I probably slept like 4ish hours but that thing was a plane topped full of temptation!  Seriously the coolest like inflight entertainment id ever seen.  All i could do was play with the interactive map to track where we were... Which was still a pretty dope map. Hethrow was huge and there were like a bazillion cultures there... but all the announce, ents were with a british accent haha so that was fun.  Honestly we got there an hour later but the layover wasnt too bad.  Now the flight to Joberg SUCKED.  I was next to Elder Rawle who I LOVE, but hes 325 lbs.  we didnt fit very well.  so yeah i didnt really sleep so i was miserable.  The S Africa airport was neat.. I felt like I was in Africa!  Haha we all placed a BOM to this Muslim guy he was super nice and gave us a karan haha.  THe flight to mada was a breath of fresh air, NOT it smelt so bad hahah.  The mada airport is sooo small haha.  When we got there i swear as soon as we landed it started pouring rain.. the perfect arrival gettign off the plane!  There we met pres adams who is awesome and the two APs Elder West who I love and Elder Rasmussen zho is from west point!  We got there and it was their independance day so that was crazy.  We met a bunch of people at theoffice, ate dinner then we stayed the night at the house of a couple who had just left.  It was me rawle fox christiansen webb lee and then E West, Rasmussen. Oh by the way.... Only like two or three pairs of garments and a white shirt were taken... So NBD.  Well our first day they gave us the rundown of how to stay healthy, gave an intro to some areas and then lunch then they told us our trainer and area!  It was pretty funny it was in an envelope and it was liike we were opening ,ission calls.  So my area is Tanjombato (tanzoombaatoo) and my trainer is Elder Rakotonjanahary (rakootoonzanahary) haaaa... yeah he is a native.  He speaks a little english...  Our area is gigantic, its the southern tip of tana the capital city and its just us in a pretty nice apartment So far around our apartment building ive seen: chickens, roosters, ducks, turtles, cats, dogs, big spiders... well lets get to it I have like noo ti,e so it will be quick.  mada has beautiful natural landscapes, ALOT of hills.  But it is sooo poor.  They arent kidding when they say its less than a third zorld country.  It constantly smells like poop if were walking around crowded areas... but really.  It is so crozded. You kind of have to walk on the street because either its too crowded or the sidewwqlk is like too beaten down:  They are chickens dogs cats etc everyzhere and its suer gross.  Honestly it is just really poor here.  Its sad because the natural beauty is overrun by the poorness of the country.  So I dont understand anyone zhen ze teach:  In fqct i dont reqlly understqnd elder rqkoto sometmes:  Its reqlly   hard zhen he doesnt speak your native language very zell and you dont speak his very well:  The first couple of nights were really hard on me because its just us and somtimes we cant co,,unicate really well.  My second night with him was extremely hard.  I had not understood  a thing all day and him and i were having trouble communicating and i just broke down and thought i couldnt do it.  I seriously thought I was gonna go home because it was so hard.  But i realized why would i be herre if the lord did not KNOW that I can do it:  I can do this.  I a, going to be honest:  This is really really hard, i dont understand anyone, i dont knoz zhqt is going on, im so sick of being called vaza and having everyone speak french to me because im white.... but i can do this and i know that eventually i will love it here.  Today I got to talk to a lot of elders zhen ze played basketball at the office and went into dowtozn tana.  All of them said i am so blessed and am in the best position possible because I have a malagasy comp... It will come its just going to take a lot of work.  Please keep praing but dont worry, im in the lords hands. Im out of time... we have a lesson in 20..

new district leader

Manahoana ny fianakaviako ary ny namako!
So as my subject states... I'm the new district leader for District F!  Haha it's not that big of a deal... I beat out two guys in my district and the only thing I do is pick up mail and go to meetings to tell President Mickelsen how every one in my district is doing.  So... This past week has just been so awesome I can't stand it.... Well awesome spiritually speaking, and that's all that matters right?! In local news I heard Shwanze got his mission call to Omaha spanish speaking!  DOPE!  Still haven't gotten any word from him OR caleb but it's fine.... I guess. I'm over it.  Wow well let's see.  Last PDay was great, TRC went well and after we did SYL where all you can do is speak your language for a certain amount of time.  So Weber, Rawle, Midgley and I SYL'd it for a bit, we went to the creamery, studied a bit, etc, etc but we did it all in Malagasy!  So we felt pretty cool.  I had a couple of amazing experiences this week that pretty much cemented my testimony in stone mandraikizay!  AHHH!!  I love the gospel and I know without ANY doubt in my mind.  It was through watching the Joseph Smith movie sunday night, and talking to Elder Rawle one night that made me realize that this gospel is the truest, most amazing, bestest, tsara indrindry filazanstara EVER!  I've been so happy lately haha.  Don't get me wrong, Weber and I have butted heads quite a bit lately, Malagasy is still as hard as afobe, and I'm ITCHING to get out of MTC west, but guess what... I'm a missionary!  I am preaching the gospel that the prophet Joseph Smith restored, that same gospel that he was matyred for, that same gospel that pioneers trecked west for... and now in A WEEK AND A HALF i'll be preaching the good word to the Malagasy people!  How tsara-be is that?!  So yeah.. I'm getting pretty sick of beign here at the MTC but one thing about it here that I absolutely love is seeing all of my friends from college here.  Last week I saw Elder Jackson (Korea,) today I saw Elder Mehmott (Russia,) Elder Romano (Italy,) Elder Lazenby and Elder Peterson (Tawain,) and I'm hoping to see some more before I go!  I love it knowing that so many of my friends are out here serving the Lord!  We're in the Lord's army!! It's the coolest feeling!  I got emails from Elder Mead (Greece) and Elder Smith (Indiana) and oh my sweet osy tsara I can't wait to get out into the field.  Elder Mead said that Greece is breathtaking, and Elder Smith says that he ate squirell... AHH!!!  and get this... We get our flight plans tomorrow or saturday!  Geez louize!  (not sure if that's right but ehhh tsy manina)  So.  Let's see.  Here's an update on me.  The Malagasy is coming, do I feel anywhere near ready to head to Madagascar?  Absolutely not... But who cares!  I can bear my testimony and pray and that's all you need as a missionary right?!  RIGHT!  This week we had a great time learning about Malaria!  And then we picked up our malaria pills today!  So get this the pill we're taking doxycycline is .20 cents a pill with mild side effects, the best pill (can't remember the name) has 90% malaria prevention with minor side effects but it's $5 a pill!! Hah!  then... Larium.... $2 a pill with some fun side effects... Get this.  With Larium the side effects include:  Insomnia, Depression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, very vivid nightmares, and nausea... But it is 90% malaria prevention!  HAHA messed up right?!  Anyways let's see.  Elder Rawle and I are getting really close in fact he says hi!  We're like the same person so that's fun!  Umm.... Oh!  We met the new greek elders yesterday! One is from south london and the other is from scotland!  The elder from london is amazing, he's 26 converted a year ago and is now on a mission. He has the best conversion story ever.. He was pretty much shunned by everyone, he got off drugs/alcohol/etc but now he's awesome and he's here!!! I lvoe this gospel soo much!!! Okay.  So 2 Tim 4:7... Amazing, always keep the faith and always fight the good fight.  D&C 123:17.. Serve cheerfully, and Exodus 4:11-12... The Lord has called YOU!!!!! Anyways my dear companion says we have to go or we'll miss the bus.... Azafady!  Tiako Ianareo!  Keep pushing forward!

Fitiviana INDRINDRY!!!
